The Corner and Piece of Meat

I’m not exactly sure what Tracy Antonopoulos’ new film The Corner will be about yet…but I really don’t mind just watching the trailer over and over.

Another of her full length flicks I’m diggin is Piece of Meat. Tracy uses a fantastic soundtrack to narrate us through her tale…

Tracy’s style is ’50s greaser meets and has a love child with any one of Godard’s french muses.  I’m sort of dying for a cigg right now and a good read…

I found Tracy’s Vimeo log via the video she did for Opening Ceremony’s spring collection with Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman.

This video made me GOL.

Giggle out loud.  Loving everything about her dress and key on a chain necklace.

I agree with Manute,  the red gloss is not too shabby.

Lately I’ve been noticing more and more of the shoots Carine Roitfeld styles.  Maybe it’s the mood I’m in or maybe it’s just that she always proves to stand apart.  It’s easily apparent that this is the woman who inspired Tom Ford to revolutionize Gucci and sexxxx it up.  Carine’s work ooozes sex  in a way that makes bondage a covetable must.  What a tasty life.

Two of Carine’s recent shoots with Karen Olsen and Daria Werbowy are below.  Note, may not be suitable for the timid.

One of my many girl crushes graces the Fall Club Monaco look book with her unique presence.

Brilliant on the part of CM to utilize Pam’s cool chill laid back look.

The rest of the models belong to new york’s always budding taste-maker scene…

More on PAM here.

so glad the knee sock made it’s way from runway to real way for fall.

Aside from the P-Love cameo, the clothing is RAD.  I’m especially into these lace shorts (must have!).  I really tend to buy too many shorts for fall/winter but I think it stems from the childhood preference for cute comfort.

I have been hunting for a crushed velvet blazer like this…

See the rest here.

I can’t think of a better way to coax me into buying a beautiful luxury handbag.  Include some gold lions in the hardware and we can call it a day.  Throw the bag into some spreads with the gorgeous Julianne Moore and two adorable cub lions and well….I die.  Seem them Lion size here.

last visit home, my dad bestowed me with his records.  Now that my record player is working again *yippee!* I’ve been delving into some…chuck berry, fats domino…and lately The Ronettes.  The album is so fun…and if I feel like heading to 1965, all I have to do is drop the needle.

The girls had it going on.  Their hair, for starters, is TDF.  I think about how it must’ve been to walk about with that high Do and those white tight dresses.   Liquid eyeliner…I’m rocking that steady this summer and the lengths to which I take my lines could get a little out of hand…I so dig their matching outfits…the striped skirts for bowling….

this video was filmed at Samantha’s Granny’s house in Philly.  She said her Granny’s house is unreal…and honestly after watching the video….just how unreal is  really apparent.

Happy last day of the generally agreed upon work week!

FAMILIAL TIES in BOLD COLOR

I’ve thought Kojii Helwein was swell for a while now.  Same goes for Mercedes Helwein.  Mercedes’ artwork is just speaks to my generation and those a few years ahead and following. Her eye blows life into illustration.  Now that I’m taking a course in Color Theory, I can’t get over how beautifully she blends her shades and works with tones.

So I just put two and two together than Kojii is sister-in-law to Merecedes.  And lately they’ve collaborated on some video for Merecedes’ new short films:

http://www.mercedeshelnwein.com/video/

Kojii’s husband Ali Helwein is Merecedes’ string playing music producing bro who provides titillating music for her videos.

The entire family is creative and inspiring. From her site:

FAMILY
Gottfried Helnwein — My dad. People love to refer to him as an “art provocateur”.

Ali Helnwein — My brother, who is a composer and contributes music to my videos.

Cyril Helnwein — My brother who is a photographer.

String Box Productions — Ali’s string-arrangement company.

Traction Avenue Chamber Orchestra — Ali’s orchestra.

Kojii Helnwein — My sister-in-law’s blog.

I have a third brother, Amadeus Helnwein, but he’s not present on the web yet, other than in my videos (the prominently featured blonde kid, often wearing glasses. He has 20/20 vision for the record and is far less of a nerd than I make him out to be ). He is a writer, finishing off college in Ireland. More on him to come.

Talk about one bad ass fam.

Charlotte Gainsbourg.  In a comedy.

I Do: How to Get Married and Stay Single

If you’ve ever imagined what it might be like seeing Charlotte Gainsbourg on a daily basis – oh her outfits, her mannerism, her perfectly un-coiffed hair – then you have to rent this flick.  Amusing at the very least, Charlotte has the best outfits…and I seriously think this could be a close role to what she’s like all the time.  Honestly, her hair alone…the way it’s messy and unkept, is worth a look.

We get to see her take on the romantic comedy – French style.

Need I say more?
