Everything is lovely about this little film for Opening Ceremony’s spring collection.
The clothes, jason and kirsten especially…and I love the nod to the image of Brigitte Bardot on the cover of French New Wave by Jean Douchet.
I love watching figure skating every time the Winter Olympics come around. This year the men are killing it with dark goth and whimsical appeal. Obviously Vera Wang’s work on Evan Lysacek’s costumes is TDF. Never saw something so magic on the ice as Evan last night.
Yes…it is all about the talent of the skater…of course…but the gift to use drama in your presentation just adds…

I also found it fitting that another dark angel grabbed the spotlight in NYC. Sexy Sadie taking Best In Show.

Thanks to CatParty I’m officially obsessed with this new Eva Green flick, Cracks
. I can’t even look at the trailer for too long before I want to run out and find outfits to match hers in my closet. I LOVED her look in The Dreamers and was very sad when the same sultry, natural side of her was not represented in Quantum of Solace.
the film is directed by Jordan Scott.
These two looks KILL me.

I’m not sure how I missed this when it was in theaters…perhaps it was limited release…or maybe less than stellar…but I can’t imagine I’d be wasting any time watching it, since Keira and Sienna’s wardrobes alone look to be inspiring.
Plus I sort of live for Keira and her period films. She’s all too perfect in them. I can’t wait to watch it via Netflix.
Song: Noir Et Blanc by Brigitte Bardot

Halloween was so fun. It was great stepping into a decade past. I really wish I could switch from brunette to blond…I guess if I can brave it, my wig will allow me that option.

Have a Brilliantly Frightful Candy Filled, Batty Halloween!
I found a photo of myself as Snow White.
Maybe I should be Snow White next year…I’ll need a Prince Charming…and Seven Dwarfs.

this year I decided and it will be Brigitte that I channel for my Facotry themed shindig.
I’ll take lots of photos.

Halloween has been my favorite holiday for so long…the pleasure of being someone else…the process of perfecting a costume…the details you can really get into.
My Mom used to make me a fun costume every year…I remember going to the fabric store to pick out fabrics for my Snow White, Maleficent or Scarlett O’Hara attire.
I can’t exactly say which was my favorite…though wearing a petticoat and a giant hat for Scarlett O’Hara is up there.
This year my distinguished friend Wallace, aka The Half Pint Gentleman, will be hosting a soirée. The theme: Warhol’s Factory. So initially I thought, ooooooooh, 60’s…EASY. Alas, now that it comes down to two weeks, I’m at a loss.
I am tossing around a few ideas though and I think by this weekend I’ll have something set.
Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra:

Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane…not sure if anyone would catch on though:

I also love the idea of having violet hair and hanging with the artists: Ultra Violet…I’ll need a Salvidor Dali…or a Marcel Duchamp.

Because I’ll grab any chance I get to wear a blond wig, Briggite Bardot. I have tons of Bardotesque dresses in my wardrobe. However, this would entail finding the perfect wig. I’m not sure I’m up for the challenge.

Along with being a bombshell blond…any chance I get to dress up like a man, I’ll take! I’m really wanting to be Lou Reed…

Or because depending on the quality of wig in trying to be Lou Reed …I might end up as Bob Dylan. Either way…I’d be fine with that.

And finally…so far my fave…Veronica Lodge. Any chance to dress up as a moody Brunette. Ha.

You’ve probably arleady seen this but I just reserved a copy of the United Bamboo 2010 Calendar.
If you love kittehs, especially ones in couture, you’ll love this.
Now that my kitty Bitsy has seen these she’s wondering which she’ll wear to the NGLCC Ball.
I bet J.J. Grandville would’ve reserved a copy.

I’m so giddy to see Nine. The cast, costumes, set design and sultry Penelope Cruz…SWOOOOOOOOOOOON. Having just watched 8 1/2 has also made me especially intrigued as to how Rob Marshall will translate this story. The shots of Fergie on the beach are so very Fellini. Ever since I heard Penelope bust that strong voice out in Volver, I’ve been dying to hear more. We’ll get to see the trained ballerina do her thang.
“NINE” is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren). The film is directed by Rob Marshall (CHICAGO). The original 1982 Broadway production of “NINE,” with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.

And thankfully Almodovar and Ms. Cruz have teamed up again with Los Abrazos Rotos.
I live in Chocolate City, Work for NPR, Love my roommate and two Kittehs. Day to day I find more and more beauty lurking in the oddest spots. Rouge My Knees is an accumulation of notes on what I find whets my curiosity for all things toxic and pretty.
I love sharing my view of the world through the photos and links posted here.
