I know that it’s true
It’s gonna be a good year
Out of the darkness
And into the fire
I’ll tell you I love you
And my hearts in the strangest place
That’s how it started
And that’s how it ends

In the latest issue of Muse, model Jacquelyn Jablonksi models Ralph Lauren like I’ve never seen before. I normally just think preppie, classic and clean when it comes to RL. The layout styled by Tamara Cincik and photographed by Jason Nocito has a fun new twist on the American classic.

A nice interlude from Winter to Spring…
I’m coming up with a way to feel spring easy even though the temp hasn’t gone a bit beyond 40 degrees.
My equation involves pretty easy flowy dresses
(inspiration, Linda McCartney’s dress above),
warm tights and lots of braids.

And to add to my collection of pretty, easy dresses, I just ordered a handmade beauty from Vain and Vapid. I’m a die-hard fan of Julie’s designs and handmade art. I found her by way of her adorable blog, Vain and Vapid. My latest acquisition is the Cecilia Lisbon Dress. I plan to order from her any chance I get. Nothing like supporting small business and having pretty handmade clothes to call your own, especially in a world of mass-production.
I can’t wait to pair it with a wool cowl neck cardigan, wool tights, my boyfriend fatigue jacket and my mocs.
Or I can throw it over a black turtle neck, a la Linda, and pair it with my schoolboy blazer and knee high Frye’s. Hooray for interlude dressing!

Snow falling…

I’ve been submerged in snow. When I left the East Coast I had just lived through the beautiful blizzard of ‘09.
Now I’m in New Mexico for Christmas and there is snow everywhere! I’d like to snap some photos of my own, but for now, here are some snaps I found. I hope it is snowing where you find yourself!
Have a fantastic holiday!

Just a few more days!
I Love this song and it always manages to throw me in the spirit.
Santa baby, I wanna yacht,
And really that’s not a lot,
Been an angel all year,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
and not shamelessly, one of my most faves:

becuase nature has got it going on, have it at the tip of your fingers…
carry Audubon with you on your iPhone.
The new apps are so fantastic.
I’ll never lack guidance whilst tramping around DC’s finest natural scapes.
I bet Audubon’s Granddaughters would’ve carried it with them.

I’m way excited to see Tom Ford’s creativity translated onto the screen.
NPR’s Terry Gross did a great profile and interview with Ford for Fresh Air.
Listen to it here.
We get to hear Ford discuss his arresting, provocative Gucci Ads and branding.
He also talks about the ‘post-humanism’ evolving in our culture and how un-natural beauty standards have become.
Is Jon Hamm the voice on the other end?
STRUMPET & PINK. Sweet and pretty.
floral and light. naughty and airy.
fantastical and aged lace.

these pretty things are hand sewn and can be made to order.
I found them after flipping through my latest issue of I Love You Magazine.
Linking through the site is like unwrapping several packages within another…all decorated in the prettiest of lace, ribbons and sparkle.

I live in Chocolate City, Work for NPR, Love my roommate and two Kittehs. Day to day I find more and more beauty lurking in the oddest spots. Rouge My Knees is an accumulation of notes on what I find whets my curiosity for all things toxic and pretty.
I love sharing my view of the world through the photos and links posted here.
