Rouge My Knees

The Edge of Love

I’m not sure how I missed this when it was in theaters…perhaps it was limited release…or maybe less than stellar…but I can’t imagine I’d be wasting any time watching it, since Keira and Sienna’s wardrobes alone look to be inspiring.

Plus I sort of live for Keira and her period films.  She’s all too perfect in them.  I can’t wait to watch it via Netflix.

I love to imagine who this ring from the 1880′s belonged to.  What sort of woman would’ve embellished herself at the time with this love gem of a ring?

a gypsy? lady of the evening?  mother of five?  lover of one?

Who handcrafted such a thing?  Where did those diamonds come from?

I once overheard someone at a party say that diamonds mined pre- and circa the 1920′s are  blood free.

That bit of information makes owning a vintage diamond over a new diamond even better than I thought.

This lovely photo is courtesy of the amazing vintage extraordinaire Eric Basin and his tumblr.

I have to keep posting about Jane Aldridge’s “other” blog because it’s truly just one of my favorites…

and always inspires good feelings…and sparks inspiration.

Jane’s knack for image combination and unrestrained highlight of the naked body are so worth, at the very least, a weekly browse.

This Lynsey De Paul song has me quite chippy at work.

and this photo may set the tone for my weekend spirit.  Even if it is a rainy weekend here in DC…

My favorite thing of the new Project Runway has been model Kojii Helnwein.

I was so sad to see her leave and not continue on to Bryant Park.

Kojii  can look like she stepped out of another decade or like she can rock your face off.

I hope we get to see more of her in editorial and on the catwalk.

Or more of her on stage as she sings and plays the guitar.

For now you can check out her blog and official website featuring her music.  It looks like she’s touring in her native Ireland.

Book List – Obsolete

I just stumbled across this book by Washington Post contributor Anna Jane Grossman:

Obsolete: An Encyclopedia of Once-Common Things Passing Us By.

passed

The book promises to remind us of lost treasures like mixed tapes, the boom box, letter writing, typewriters, (to my horror Porn magazines) : )  …and even books.

Keep the book alive at the very least and add this one to your list.  would be a great stocking stuffer or white elephant gift.

Bio from Amazon:

Anna Jane Grossman is a New York–based freelance writer specializing in lifestyle and arts and entertainment features. Her work has appeared in dozens of publications, including the New York Times, Salon.com, the Washington Post, CNN.com, the Associated Press, Elle, New York Magazine, Marie Claire, and Fortune.

I kissed her in the window.

she covered up her face.

She’s pretty as Sherry.

But I’m far, far too late.

joy division was unfortunately not around long enough as Ian bid adieu from the world much too soon.

I like to watch old footage every now and then to remind myself of his voice, his style of dance and their unique style.

I guess the bitter sweet aspect here is that we were given new order.

I love the film Control.  I think I need to watch it again soon.

I just came across this The New York Times story with behind the scenes photos of The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Wes talks about his childhood obsession with the book and hidden passageways.

Turkey weekend will be great with this out in theaters.   This will probably mark the start of a new tradition for me…

I love watching Hannah and Her Sisters every Thanksgiving weekend.  Fantastic Fox may just need to be added.  I’m also excited about the joined efforts of Wes and Noah Baumbach in writing the script.

I think I might love the non-subscriber cover best.

HOT BATHS AND SOFT SKIN | BLISS WARMTH COMFORT

Growing up my mom, sister and I took baths regularly.  It wasn’t until college dorm life that I realized the days of bathing were pretty much over.  Now that I’m an “adult” I occasionally find time to soak up in a hot bath.  Not as often as I should…After watching this video for the new line of Sans Products I had to run home and soak.  My dream bathroom will have a free standing tub big enough for two…or three…or four!

The video is beautiful, as are the products and packaging.

Check it out http://www.sansceuticals.com/

Loving the vibe here…ethereal and the cute grey kitty!
