Have a Brilliantly Frightful Candy Filled, Batty Halloween!

I found a photo of myself as Snow White.

Maybe I should be Snow White next year…I’ll need a Prince Charming…and Seven Dwarfs.

Wendy Bevin has been creating quite a stir with her images – most recently with her English Party spread in the November issues of Italian Marie Claire.  Now that her website is up and running you can browse through this and older works from the Jazz singer/fashion photographer.  I love that she’s so inspired by Jazz.  You can hear and see it in her work.  Become a fan on facebook and check out her pretty photo albums.

Tie me up.  Tie me down.cuffsever since I visited the kiki de montparnasse website, I’ve been obsessed.  everything is so pretty and french.  I’m especially concerned with acquiring the gold handcuffs…to wear as a bracelet of course.

they’re 24K gold-dipped and come with a beautiful key on a long gold chain.

now I just need to save up the $ and justify the purchase.

new statement piece?  actually with the pretty key on a chain, it’s a two for one.

Chocolate sprinkles and pink frosting…I’m making myself crave cake as I post this.

I found this deeeelish hand-knitted scarf when I was visiting family in Albuquerque.  The artist had several adorable options:  popcorn, eggs and toast, cupcakes and hearts.  After several paces around the store I finally decided on the cupcakes.  I’m so happy I did.  Now when it’s freezing out I can stare at my scarf and fantasize about pink cupcakes.

I also found some great Polaroids of myself eating what else?  CAKE.

I think I’ll need to bake something pretty tonight.

the lula scrapbook is helping me get through my day like vitamin c.

or caffeine.

or my headphones.

to have posts that expand on the current issue’s features…I can’t think of anything more satisfying…other than being able to be at several places at once…like the brigitte bardot exhibit or the citizen’s band show in nyc…for now I can fantasize.

Tonight was the last show of The 2009 Au Revoir Simone Japan tour.
We played at the cutest bar in Nagoya and met so many sweet people.
Afterwards, we still felt wide awake, so Annie and I went with our new
friend Yoko to shop at a 24 hour supermarket.

duckie2

My outfit today reminded me of Duckie while I was sitting on the train this morning.  A mash up of a leapoard skirt, Electric silk blue shirt and coral jewelry.  I find myself channeling Duckie’s mix of colors and prints.  So suddenly I had to listen to some Otis Redding.

and then of course I had to find this and watch it.  Cheers to Duckie!

On the same note, I’m loving the mix here…gosh orange is probably a close tie with pink as my fave color.

I don’t remember how or where I stumbled across Erie Basin’s tumblr…just so thankful I did.  Owner Russell Whitmore curates everything in his beautiful Red Hook shop and then shares lovely lovely photographs on his blog.  He has such a keen eye for beautifully simple 1920′s diamond rings.  And I’m thinking I need to mount my own stuffed tiger’s head on wooden panel to create my own toy faux taxidermy.  I look forward to his tumblr updates each day.

ABOUT ERIE BASIN:

Owner Russell Whitmore takes a curatorial approach to antique dealing, collecting select 19th and early 20th century jewelry and objects with contemporary stylistic and cultural relevance. Ranging from early 19th century neoclassical furniture to Victorian-era Egyptian revival jewelry to American folk art, the collection is eclectic, but carefully constructed.  This fall Erie Basin is also showing the contemporary work of Conroy & Wilcox, Paul DeBlassie IV, Lee Hale, and Mary Preston.

Halloweenie Halloweenie | At The Factory

Halloween has been my favorite holiday for so long…the pleasure of being someone else…the process of perfecting a costume…the details you can really get into.

My Mom used to make me a fun costume every year…I remember going to the fabric store to pick out fabrics for my Snow White, Maleficent or Scarlett O’Hara attire.

I can’t exactly say which was my favorite…though wearing a petticoat and a giant hat for Scarlett O’Hara is up there.

This year my distinguished friend Wallace, aka The Half Pint Gentleman, will be hosting a soirée.  The theme:  Warhol’s Factory.  So initially I thought, ooooooooh, 60′s…EASY.  Alas, now that it comes down to two weeks, I’m at a loss.

I am tossing around a few ideas though and I think by this weekend I’ll have something set.

Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra:

Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane…not sure if anyone would catch on though:

graceslick

I also love the idea of having violet hair and hanging with the artists:  Ultra Violet…I’ll need a Salvidor Dali…or a Marcel Duchamp.

Because I’ll grab any chance I get to wear a blond wig,  Briggite Bardot.  I have tons of Bardotesque dresses in my wardrobe.   However, this would entail finding the perfect wig.  I’m not sure I’m up for the challenge.

brigitte2

Along with being a bombshell blond…any chance I get to dress up like a man, I’ll take!  I’m really wanting to be Lou Reed…

lou reed

Or because depending on the quality of wig in trying to be Lou Reed …I might end up as Bob Dylan.  Either way…I’d be fine with that.

And finally…so far my fave…Veronica Lodge.  Any chance to dress up as a moody Brunette.  Ha.
