I think on the days when Helena and Michael were the IT couple to keep up with.

I had a friend once say he wanted Never Tear Us Apart played at his wake. A bit morbid I guess…but also sweet.

some of my fave recent images plucked from the selby. I’m feeling the need to create and re-do some new space. the color red seems to be a stand out as well…this photo chain starts with a shot of room at the george tavern in london. pauline forster and toby penrose are magic. I wish I lived across the street from the george.

Spike Jonze the director, Meet Spike Jonze the Fashion Maven.

That’s right. On sale at Opening Ceremony, you can pick one of these lovely little horned gems or a faux fur vest (Rachel Zoe, eat your Wild heart out). Who better to work on the line than Pamela Love. The collaboration came about when Jonze visited the shop with a friend. Who else could compare/contrast Opening Ceremony to Google?
“When the store first opened in New York, a friend and I went in and it just seemed like its own world. Even the name itself is such a mysterious name. Like, who would name a store Opening Ceremony? And uh, it just seemed modern in that way that like everything is now interconnected, happening in all cities at all times simultaneously. It’s like a post-Google, post-MySpace kind of world where it’s more combinations that tie everyone together than geography.”

I have got a book that holds hundreds of Ziegfeld photographer Alfred Cheney Johnston’s photos. Johnston captured the natural beauty of women, masking them in a sultry and soft seduction. Women were just starting to shorten their hemlines and rouge their knees, coming into their own and placing their beauty on display publicly – the 1920′s.
It is our good fortune, dear friends, that we live amongst a photographer who shares Johnston’s talents. Possessing the same knack for capturing women at their most innocent and naughty , Ellen Von Unwerth creates a vintage other world that I wish I could fall into. Born in Germany in 1954, Von Unwerth made her fame shooting the Claudia Schiffer Guess campaign.
There are a few books of her work in print and I can’t wait to set one of them on the shelf alongside Jazz Age Beauties.
I thought it would be fun to post both here, interspersed.

Well, it’s that time of year again. the time of year that kicks off my obsessive (though so far elusive) search for the perfect riding boot. I gave up last year after trying on tons of pairs only to be discouraged that they were either too tall or the boot circumference too small.
Fall/winter 2009 seems like it could be a bit more promising. The first contender: Frye. Ah, Frye….Frrrryyyyyyye! I’ve posted from my ‘most favorite’ to just ‘favorite.’ This year I’m also thinking I could do with some ankle boots. Not sure if I can go all the way back to the early 90′s grunge motorcycle ankle boot, but the riding boot here is pretty cute.
Elizabeth Rings: the top contender, however I have great taste and these bad babies are a mere $648. Well worth it I’m sure but a bit beyond my budget.

And last but not least the shorter version, Melissa Short:

For now I’m going to pray to the Sale Goddess and hope that somehow the Elizabeth Rings end up half off. Unless somehow has a friend who works for Frye? ; )
I live in Chocolate City, Work for NPR, am currently working on an MA in Interior Design, Love my roommate, friends and Kitteh, "Bits." Day to day I find more and more beauty lurking in the oddest spots. Rouge My Knees is an accumulation of notes on what I find whets my curiosity for all things toxic and pretty.
I love sharing my view of the world through the photos and links posted here.
