Love the brand, especially Boy for the ladies, love the site, love the ad campaigns and the Polaroid style lookbooks.  Also loving their choice of Marissa Tomei for the fall collection.  Past models also include Sarah Silverman…goodness, there is just so much to love here.  Diggin the bright shoes.  Note to add to Fall List:  Neon Yellow or Neon Pink shoes.

lubitelI’m currently trying to figure out how I can add this pretty daddy to my slowly growing camera collection.   Lubitel is a direct translation for “Amateur” in Russian and it refers to any of  the medium format twin lens reflex cameras manufactured in Russia by LOMO.

The design is based on the early 1930′s Voïgtlander Brilliant camera with various improvements. - wikipedia

This package will get any girl/boy off to a good start:

Prada’s 2010 Resort Collection is full of colors, geometric patterns and just lovely brilliant color.  I envision myself decked in Prada while on holiday, coming across a cute little carousel along the beach in a european town.

I’d hop right on, enjoy the summer breeze and the delightful ride, and strike pose for my photo shoot.

Modern carousels in America are generally populated with horses. Carousels in Europe, and in America from earlier periods, frequently include diverse varieties of mounts, like pigs, zebras, mythological creatures (such as dragons, sea monsters or unicorns), and deer, to name a few. Sometimes, regular chair or bench-like seats are used as well, and occasionally mounts can be shaped like airplanes or cars, though these do not always go up and down

A few years ago, after seeing this image at a Smithsonian installation on Art Nouveau {which included Jules Chéret, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, François-Raoul Larche,  and Henri-Pierre Roché} I was taken with the moving images of LOIE FULLER.   I proceeded right to the shop to purchase one of Chéret’s famous posters of Loie Fuller done to advertise her show at the Folies Bergère.

Fuller started as a performer in burlesque, vaudeville and the circus.  Her unique combination of silk costumes and multi-colored lighting made her a stand out in Art Nouveau movement.

Vintage Playboy|Vintage Advertisements Circa ’67 & ’69

While in L.A. last week I hit the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market.   It was and is GLORIOUS.  After deciding I would only drop $20 bucks there (aside from the $8 entry fee), I came away with some pretty dresses ($5 each) and my most fave, two old Playboy Magazines I scored for $5.  I love collecting gentleman’s magazines from the ’60s and ’70s and I’ve managed to rack up some goodies: Avant Garde and Evergreen Magazine and now these Playboys.

Along with some pretty rad articles (often by notable authors, artists and film directors) are the ads.  Dated ads  can reveal the perception of a culture or stereotypes common at the time of their conception.

As to be expected, I suppose, the old Playboys are full of advertisements for cars, liquor, cigars, cigarettes and my fave:   SLACKS.

The Playboy Subscription marketing is the BEST.  I love how defined they “Playboy Man” becomes…

The automobile ads are brilliant.  Funny how these seem to be more ’80s than late ’60s.

The only ad noticeably geared towards women is this Chanel No. 5 ad, though I suppose the message is for the menz.

Chanel was on to something.

Heather has just updated her blog with two key items from Lonely Hearts that Bonadrag will carry this fall.  A Silk dress and a pretty Silk Cutout Bra to wear underneath.

I’ve already begun fantasizing about my fall uniform and how it will consist of this Lonely Hearts duo, a silky pair of heart patterned tights {perhaps with Tabio heart tights} some riding boots and a warm fuzzy sweater noir.

Oh divine Autumn! I am looking forward to your return!

Favorite Designer: ERDEM at the moment

Erdem Moralioglu.

The designer’s Spring and Fall 2009 collections were as starkly different as Night and Day…though as concise as can be with his painterly fabrics and girly designs.  The shoes kill.

I just want to wear Erdem all day long

…and surround myself with exotic birds, flowers

and

Jackson Pollock.
